We have all heard the phrase “human trafficking”, but what exactly is it? Does it really impact the hospitality community? What influence can I have as an event professional to affect my community in a positive way? How can this effect my event/hotel? What do I need to know? Learning just a few simple signs to look for can make a significant difference.
Please join us as Joe Savarise, Executive Director of the Ohio Hotel and Lodging Association, shares with you OHLA’s impact on the hospitality community in the fight against human trafficking. His stories will help you better understand why all meeting professionals need to have more awareness as event professionals. Mr. Savarise’s passion in the fight has made OHLA a national leader in preventing this crime from tarnishing our industry.

About Our Speaker, Joe Savarise, Executive Director, Ohio Hotel & Lodging Association
Joe Savarise joined the Ohio Hotel & Lodging Association as Executive Director in January, 2015. OHLA is committed to providing resources and connections, improving service and professionalism in hospitality, increasing sustainability, championing safety and security, and furthering charitable and community involvement. Part of that effort involves increasing and coordinating the industry’s response to human trafficking. Joe is currently a member of the Boards of Directors for the Franklin County Convention Facilities Authority, Greater Columbus Convention & Visitors Bureau, Greater Columbus Sports Commission and the Columbus Street Railway Corporation.
.Joe is a native Ohioan, born and raised in Ashtabula, and a graduate of the E.W. Scripps School of Journalism at Ohio University in Athens. He and his wife Stacey reside near Pickerington, Ohio.
