With so much uncertainty regarding the Covid-19 pandemic, I wanted to address the POWER Chapter Board’s decision to return to in-person events this fall. Please know that this decision was not made lightly, but after a lot of research and careful consideration.
First, and most importantly, the POWER Chapter’s top priority is the health and safety of our members and attendees. We would not return to in-person if we did not feel like it could be done safely.
In addition to the priority of health and safety, we also realize that we have a duty to be leaders in our industry; to show that meetings and events can go forward, and our industry can continue its rebound, when the proper procedures are implemented, and proper precautions are taken.
As with anything, there is of course risk with returning to in-person events, but it’s a risk level we feel is acceptable – with an approved vaccine readily available; after speaking with groups that have successfully met in-person in our region; and considering available information such as research from industry leader Freeman that concludes large in-person business events are safe and do not increase local COVID-19 case rates.
We will continue to monitor the guidance from the Centers for Disease Control, as well as the states, cities and venues hosting our events, to ensure our plans for the event meet the appropriate safety measures. These are the measures we currently have planned and they will be updated if additional changes become necessary.
As always, I can be reached at email@example.com for feedback or further discussion. We look forward to welcoming you to a POWER Chapter event in the near future.
